Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Picture Book

Bought this for my oldest child and they absolutely loved it. It made them so happy! Beautiful artwork from the anime.

I bought all the Miyazaki picture books in a bunch before realizing what they were, laugh. They're basically the animes distilled into a storybook form you'd read to a young child. They are very good at what they do and it's constructed well; I have gotten more mileage/enjoyment out of their VIZ Media counterpart 'Art of' books though. Still a five star.

Great pictures, great story. I love reading this to my kids and my kids love listening!

Love anything Studio Ghibli!

Great adaptation.

We bought this for our 4 year old as a birthday gift. She loves Studio Ghibli; Nausicaa, Ponyo, and Me Neighbor Totoro are her favorite. I've enjoyed Nausicaa since I was a kid and reading this picture book format with her had been a lot of fun. It's a straight summary, transitioning the movie to the book. Doesn't add much additional insight or extra art since it's not an art of book, but it is a nice way to enjoy movie images. Great selection of stills from the movie with quotes from it throughout. The pictures are bright and vivid, printed on good quality paper. The binding is also tight and I don't feel it will get loose no matter how often or roughly she handles it. We own the movie and the original Manga set that was created before the movie, but this is a nice option to have for younger people. Now she can enjoy Nausicaa wherever she goes! An amazing story with lots to admire from the heroine, and wonderfully developed characters. Full of values I enjoy my kids to learn about.

Sono rimasto colpito favorevolmente. Il libro è curato (cartonato con sovracoperta), le pagine sono molto buone (spesse il giusto). È un adattamento del film di cui ha le immagini (solitamente 1 grande e una 1 piccola per pagina). Il testo del racconto occupa poche righe, caratteri sono grandi e molto leggibili e l'inglese sembra abbastanza semplice. Non è un art-book (contiene solo still-immagine prese direttamente dal film) ma lo consiglio a tutti i fan di Miyazaki, anche a chi ha il manga di Nausicaa. Se avete dei bambini, potete anche leggerlo come racconto serale(traducendolo e poco per volta, sono 200 pagine dopotutto). Oppure prenderlo per ragazzini che vogliono leggere in inglese È un peccato che non ne esista una versione in italiano.

What a beautiful book to read with my grandchildren. Protagonist is a peaceful, problem solving leader who shows compassion & compromise. Quite a statement on post nuclear environment and gradual recovery. Lots of lessons in this one and illustrations are gorgeous. So glad to have this in our collection.

Il libro racconta bene il film usando immagini prese dallo stesso. È scritto in inglese ma è abbastanza semplice da leggere e poi raccontare ai bambini.
