The chickies love them! I bought the 10lb size for my 7 chicks. I have these to them from the time they were 5 days old and didn’t really like me, even though I gently handle them every day. Now, with these grubbies every time I put my hand out with these they come and take off running with a grub in their beaks! So cute to see the chaos when I give them these. Mine were nice and fresh, and they smell kind of like a mix of dog food and potato chips lol 😂. I’ve seen some reviews saying some grubs were burnt because they look black. I have gotten a lot of those, and I can confidently say that they are absolutely not burnt, they smell fine and the chicks still devour them like nothing. Some grubs are just darker in color than others 🤷‍♀️ (don’t be racist 😂 ) The size is really big for the price, it’s a pretty huge box (2x more product from this company for the same price from tractor supply) and they’re crispy when you take the grubs fresh from the package. Perfect treat. You might think they chicks are going to be intimidated by the pretty large size of them, but they’re hollow inside, so my chicks just peck at them and eat them flake by flake. At first your chicks might be skeptical though. Make sure you give them grit too. Must try if your chicks are a little skittish. I know this is a really long review, but I love typing gigantic reviews, because I can’t usually find a lot of feedback from customers, and this is NOT payed for by the company.

I bought these to feed my local murder (flock of crows). They loooooove them. I think it was a good deal, and black soldier flies are nutritious for birds. If you are someone looking for larvae from the USA, you are going to have a difficult time. The reason for this is because there is not enough profit for selling them to make a liveable wage off raising larvae in the USA. Save yourself the trouble and look for high quality larvae instead. I recommend this for at least feeding crows and wild birds. I do not have chickens, so I cannot say if they like these ir not. Wild birds love them though.

Wish there was more variety of bug types at this cost- but otherwise, great product We have chickens, and this is a much cheaper way to add in extra protein and "treats" than buying them at a store. Which, I will admit, does suck as I prefer to buy local when I can, but these days you have to save money wherever you're able. I mix it in with other specialties for my chickens, throw it out as scratch, and they're thrilled!

I rarely write reviews, but this company deserves one. The packaging is great, sturdy and well sealed. The fly larvae look "fresh". A strange way to describe dried bugs, but you know what I mean. Minimal dust at the bottom of the bag. The bag inside the box is packed full to the top. I wish the ziploc-type bag was a bit easier for my arthritic hands to open and close, but that's old age's fault, not the company's. I owned chickens and waterfowl for years. They would have loved this brand, I'm sure. This is my second purchase from this company. The first time I ordered 10 lbs for a pair of Eastern Bluebirds and a few Baltimore Orioles that were visiting during migration, but when they moved on I still had roughly 9 pounds left. During our recent unusual winter weather, with 4 inches of solid ice on the ground, seemingly ever single bird in the county found my backyard and the seven feeders I have. They are addicted now, I'm sure. I ordered ordered 5 lbs this time. I will definitely order from this company again.
