We had to use our own screws for this product! The holes were barely predrilled - our high power drill wouldn't drive these screws in, they stripped out. My husband figured he could have made the whole thing himself - save yourself the money on this one.

I've bought multiple scratching posts for my cat, and he continued to ignore them and try to scratch the furniture. He's a bit of a wild boy, and appeared to like to stretch up the sides of our wooden deck, so I thought a plain wood scratching post was worth a try. I put it in a spot he usually runs through when he gets the zooms, and it took all of ten minutes and two sessions to train him to use it (the hole and the elastic are surprisingly effective). It's a little rough to look at and leaves little slivers of wood that need to be vacuumed every once in a while, but worth it if it saves the furniture.

Works as advertised. My 6 year old Bengal had taken to using all the door frames as his scratching post and I was desperately searching for an alternative for him. After giving him his treats around the post and covering it with catnip, he now only uses it to scratch. I’m very pleased. It was worth the cost. Due note, it is cedar and it’s used as as scratching post so it will shed. Be prepared to clean up around it.

My cat was scratching the wood deck so I bought her this thinking she would like it. She doesnt really go near it and she wont scratch it. She sniffed it when I put catnip on it but that’s it. I’ll give it a few more weeks though. The bad thing is that the scratcher itself is so big and ugly. The four pieces of wood that make up the stand extend out farther than I expected. It’s U-G-L-Y and I hate looking at it. It’s uglier than the carpet ones by far. The whole thing is a huge eyesore and not the natural looking scratcher I was hoping for.

I have a cat who scratches my woodwork: I was hoping this would be transformational, but he is still not using it... however, still hopeful. I wish the wood were not so rough: I wanted to rub some catnip into it, but that would be impossible without getting horrible splinters... smooth wood would be much better, wood like the woodwork he loves so much. Also, it's not as stable as it needs to be: the 4 legs are OK, but what is really needed is a platform, a solid piece of wood not 4 crossed bars.

once you open the box it’s so simple to put together. holes lined up, screws went in easy, and my cat started playing and scratching it immediately. bought this to deter her from scratching the wood trim and furniture. let’s hope it stops that.

This thing is a piece of crap. The only reason I bought it is because I couldn't find a cheaper version (or really any other version) anywhere and I don't own power tools. It's just three pieces of wood and two screws, and yet they couldn't put in any more effort to make sure everything is aligned for some reason, even though they're charging $60 for it. The post purposefully sits angled above the base boards with about an inch and a half of a gap between the actual boards and the post. And the base boards don't all sit flat on the ground, so it's wobby as all hell. If you have a scaredy cat, it might not go near something so wobbly. I usually don't leave negative reviews when I don't like something, but they're charging $60 for this which makes me mad when I know how freaking easy it is to make sure three pieces of wood sit flush with one another. Anyway, if any one else has power tools and wants to go into business making exposed wood posts for people with cats that don't like the carpeted or sisal rope scratching posts, I will be your first customer.
