I must if you love Madeline and or cats! A classic character. Charming book.

This was a gift to a child selected by her teacher and much appreciated by the child.

I was asked to read to a first grade class which consisted of 20 six year old boys & girls. I had lived in Rome for several years, consequently the John Bemelmans Marciano book "Madeline And The Cats of Rome" appealed to me. It is a very well put together work with wonderful art work which is true to the city. The children loved it and had many questions and opinions about the city and the cats. They all seemed to thoroughly enjoy the tale and wanted to talk about it, after the reading. For me, it was a very rewarding experience to see the children enjoying themselves being transported to a beautiful place with an exciting story about other children and the famous cats of Rome. My granddaughter liked the original one better.

I assumed the cats would be those in the ruins - they even sell T-shirts there - but instead they were in a house. Good story, writing certainly matched the originals books for style and wit, and the drawings are charming!

this was bought for my 3 year old granddaughter who absolutely adores all the Madeline books. When I do her bedtime stories I must admit I do enjoy them

We got this book for our child before we went to Rome. She was excited to visit the same places Madeline visited!

If anyone has the right to continue the Madeline series, John Bemelmans Marciano does, based on his ancestry and his skills in art and narrative -- this is pretty how much how the story would have been done by Ludwig himself, one imagines. The tale is amusing and well-plotted, and leads you around many of the sights of Rome. A high quality sequel that can stand with the original volumes, and is as much a pleasure to read with the kids as the original stories are.
