Women’s Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped

Now that I’ve hiked about 50 miles (80km) in these boots, I can confidently recommend them. Not a loose thread in sight. I’ve hiked through creeks, I’ve submerged them in water AND mud. During a particularly treacherous hike, I had to walk through deep mud that covered the entire boot, laces and all. I used my water bladder from my hiking pack to rinse it, and it was back to looking fine. I didn’t take any special steps to clean or dry them, just kept hiking. They’re definitely waterproof, I’ve walked straight through the creek with no issues. I have a wider foot so I chose a wide and I’m glad I did. I feel like I could easily get another 50-100 miles out of these boots before they show any signs of needing replacement. They’re sturdy, the laces are nice and strong too. They’re not too heavy and they are able to fit wool socks into comfortably when I adjust the laces. I’ve even doubled up socks and made the fit. Still comfortable with my summer socks too. I did put in a Dr. schols insert in them just bc I tend to get plantar fasciitis but with the inserts in these boots I’ve actually never felt foot pain even on my longest adventures.

These boots are the perfect hiking companion. I broke them in on a 7.5 mile hike with 1900 ft elevation gain. The traction was perfect, downhill was slightly uncomfortable as my toes slid around (but this trail was a VERY steep descent, & a less steep grade probably wouldn't be felt much at all). After purchasing wool hiking socks, the shoes performed perfectly. I wore these in Yosemite on the mist trail and was able to test out the waterproof fabrics. My feet stayed completely dry through each puddle. The shoes are also very warm (due to the fabrics used in waterproofing). I've worn these in warm weather conditions as well, & my feet are hot, but the protection against rocks/roots outweighs the warm feet. The toes are also outfitted with extra protection (which is very helpful if you hike on the less maintained trails as your feet may easily slip between rocks and crush your toes). I've worn these on dirt, slick mud, granite cliffs, & rocky trails, & the shoes have not slipped & have cushioned every step. Overall, I'm very impressed.

So comfy and light, def worth the money! The grip of the shoes was really good as well. I took them to sentinel dome and vernal falls in Yosemite and my feet were perfectly fine didn’t hurt or anything. I’m really clumsy and lowkey have a fear of falling and I actually felt secure in these shoes. Sizing is true to size! Also I dipped my foot in a stream to see if it was water proof and they were no water came in or even stayed on top of the shoes

EDIT after Grand Canyon backpacking trip: I got a wide fit + half a size bigger as recommended by hikers who warned against foot swelling. MISTAKE. It's fine and dandy straight of the box going up, going down steep anything HURTS. For reference I was hrs slower going down the rim than going up. I went down in the dark, but that didn't factor in near as much as the PAIN in my toes going down South Kaibab. It felt better going down in my camp sandals, though it wasn't safer or much faster. This is your message from the universe telling you to GET YOUR SIZE AND BREAK THEM IN. Or if you go wide, stick with your size. If you go up half a size, DON'T GET WIDE. Still good shoes, held up as expected, if heavy and hot. But by God, just don't size up in width AND size. PICK ONE IF YOU MUST! Take the time to break it in. Seriously. I can only wear these for mild elevation hikes, which defeats their purpose and wastes my money. Better yet, try on hiking shoes in the store and wait to buy them on sale online. - Haven't used yet, but just walking around with them on is great, no need for breaking in if you're in a rush! The soles feel like they're sticky enough to grip wet rock or loose dirt, but they're also pretty hot and sweaty doing nothing in a 70 degree room🥲 so it's better for colder climates, definitely not for summer or hot dry/wet use. I'm between a 6.5 to a 7 and got a 7 wide to accomodate for socks and foot swelling, but they fit comfortably even with one pair of socks. They look nice too, but one reviewer said the black was really a dark green, which I was hoping for! But black is just black. Maybe it'll turn green with sun exposure or a water repellant spray in time. Will update to see how they hold up under the rim of the Grand Canyon and other adventures🤞 Intially, it seems worth the 70 bucks I spent for black friday, but at full price, I'm sure there are comparative options at a lesser price point.

I needed to order a half size bigger. The first pair saw really tight. Normally I’m a perfect 7.5 and returned for an 8. That return and exchange was so easy. The second pair came in 2 days and I hadn’t returned the first ones yet. I wore these for a hike that was half mountain climbing. They were so comfortable and the ankle support was AMAZING. I had taken a fall stepping onto a pointed rock and had I not had that ankle support, I’m sure I would have sprained my ankle. The climb was 2.5 miles almost straight up with an increased elevation of 2360 ft, with 50 mile an hour winds. Not only are they really cute, but they deliver for an extremely difficult climb.

I was looking for a light weigh, waterproof hiking boot and so far these are not disappointing! wearing in Alaska with wet, raining days and my feet stay warm and dry! I could walk in these for days!

I have been absolutely in love with my Columbia winter boots for 6 years, and they've easily held up as long. I finally realized I should try some of their hiking boots for my daily walks. Columbia seems made for my difficult feet (somewhat wider toe area but not wide feet, and needing sturdy arch support) and they literally give me energy and propulsion. Further, my terrible back can give me some mobility and stability issues. Walking a well trained but exuberant and exceptionally strong (150 lbs and literally built for heavy hauling), young male Newfoundland dog, I consider all of my Columbia footwear to be excellent and necessary safety equipment. I bought 3 different pair of Columbias to try but I love this pair so much, the other mid height pair is still in its box. The low hikers are not my preference but I expected that, by mere virtue of being low, and they're still a great fit and seriously sturdy.

I really enjoyed these untill they shrunk from getting wet too many times. I only got a few months of wear out of them. If you will not be getting them completely soaked they would be great.

Vor allem vom Fußbett her.
