Sadly i appear to have bought the only Dell laptop that cannot use this type of dock

I'm quite happy with this docking station - it's got more than enough ports than I need for my USB Type-A peripherals, plus a charging Type-C port for my Macbook Pro / iPad. It's a shame that it only has one Type-C port, as I find more gadgets nowadays are Type-C rather than the older Type-A. Quite an oversight considering it's a "2024 Newest" device.The HDMI works perfectly - I tested with my iPad and was able to output to the monitor at it's native resolution. I only have one monitor to test, but can assume it will work fine on two monitors.It's quite compact, so can be easily carried around in your laptop bag.

With todays variety of connectors on new tech superseding older connectors, this unit allows the connection of most older and new connectors to operate seamlessly together, the size and convenience with the available ports connecting to my laptop, has worked very well.Highly recommended.

Does not pass through monitor correctly limits monitor to 1080p despite being advertised as 2x 4k ports

The hub is made of black plastic. plenty of ports but three USB 2 ports are a disappointment especially when USB 3 rated ports are backward compatible. Only one USB C charging port which is a let down in today’s fast transfer speeds for my needs it would have been better to change the USB 2 ports to USB C data ports so I could connect SSDs without an adapter. The USB c port is PD and 100w compatible so that’s a plus. 2 HDMI is also a bonus for multiple monitors. I like the 4 USB 3 ports which are a Rated at 10gbps . Ports on either side of the hub give added different directions connection optionsThe cable on the hub is 4.5mm a substantial thickness suggesting its capable of the 10gbps. however speed is dependent on cable, device attached and computer data speed. the hub is similar to others in the market the cable length is short at 24cm so its a table top computer only placement or for a laptop. I tested the hub speeds on my windows 11 with a 10gbps USB-c connection. using a 512gb SSD in the usb 3 port and achieved data transfer 465mb/sec. Using the same SSD on USB 2 the speed was 43.5mb/sec. I then tested a USB 3 64gb crucial pen drive achieving 123mb/sec data transfer. The USB C port would not connect my iPad Pro or my USB-c SSD so appears for charging power only. At 29.99 (currently 15% off voucher) this is an expensive hub for a lot of USB 2 technology
