Does not work for a goat
Does not work at all for a goat. Could get a suction going on my hand but no such luck on an actual goat.

Great milker, even for a first timer.
This hand milking machine is a game changer. We had a goat regect a baby and have had to hand milk her to feed him but she's difficult to milk. With this even if she lays down we're still able to milk. Took us a couple tries to get the suction each time but it was user error no fault of the milker itself. It was absolutely what I would call easy. And yes there's a firm plastic inside but I didnt find it sharp at all. Also for size reference our goat is a mini nubian with udders that barely fit in my hand theyre small. It creates a suction just fine. It came with all needed supplies for cleaning. It also included instructions in English.

Maybe requires alot of practice for success
Now I got this for use with sheep as a last resort, like when a ewe is in distress and I need to get colostrum. So maybe I am not testing this under the best of circumstances, but I just don't think it would work that great under any circumstances. Anyway both times I tried using it, I ended up hand milking. But if the teats on your animal are a bit larger like a dairy type goat then it MIGHT work better, but it will still leave a hickey type bruise or mark on the teat because the suction required to express milk is so concentrated. And it is SLOW. As slow as hand milking and it seems to be uncomfortable for the animal. For the cost, I guess I feel ok about the purchase and learning opportunity, but I would not recommend it to a friend.

Definitely saves time
I only give it a 4 because my cow keeps kicking it and messing it up but my husband seems to know how to fix it. Its a lide saver milking a cow.

Easy, fast, uncomplicated.
This is a great little set up for the price. Does the job easily, the milk stays clean.the vacuum is great. Anyone can use it,even on a goat that isn't that into being handled, which is what we had to work with
