I'm just glad it didn't do any permanent damage.
I don't know if it was bad luck but the one, I got seems to not be able to deliver power continuously. The multimeter says all levels are good, but that's without any load. When it first arrived at 8pm, I plugged my laptop to let it charge while it was powered off. The LED turned on and everything seemed fine. After a few hours turning on the computer and signing in to Windows I loaded up Task Manager and waited for the system to settle down, which never happened. The CPU usage was a going crazy with an average of about 75%. The "lightning bolt" indicator over the battery icon kept blinking in and out, and Windows kept resetting the power mode. The battery was only at 80% charge. I went to borrow my mother's power adaptor that happens to be compatible, and everything worked as expected. Long story short, the power doesn't seem to be stable under load. Sending it for a refund. For the record I have an HP 17-CP0000 which is listed on this very page as compatible. Funny side note: I had just purchased a different one when Amazon asked me if I wanted to buy a Belker universal laptop charger _again_. I didn't remember this at all, but it said I purchased one 2 years ago, and it hit me I had bought one for a router. I went to test if it really would work and that's what I'm using right now. Canceled the just placed order and got me a new universal charger on the way for the spare router. Makes me laugh at all the problems the last 2 days over getting a replacement power adaptor when I already had one and just didn't remember. orz
