Amazing

Can't believe how good this works, after one week it trapped hundreds of flies after two weeks it is full to the top!I feel like I've committed genocide! The only issue now is how do I empty it ready for new bait, I know it's going to stink and a lot of the flies are still alive!

Keeps the flies away from our space

This thing is great! We have 3 chickens that free roam in the garden and last year was a nightmare for flies, so I was determined not to have a repeat of that.Bought the trap in April and hung it from a tree. It took a while to get going but now that the warm weather is here there's a fresh layer of dead and dying flies in the trap every day. More importantly though, they're not buzzing all round the garden which means I can actually enjoy my space! Not sure about the smell that others have commented on but ours is currently odourless. That said, we haven't had to empty it yet... Edit: OK, now that it's nearly full the smell has become apparent. It's very strong and "stinky", but it's not something that's unbearable, and still better than having flies swarming all over the garden.I'd also advise to keep the water topped up regularly, which you can pour into one of the entrance holes in the lid. It quickly evaporates, and while it doesn't seem to reduce the effectiveness of the lure, the flies inside are lasting long enough to lay eggs and probably adding to the smell (and maggots can live in water, which isn't very nice to see!). I'm not looking forward to emptying it, but it's still worth the hassle for a usable garden.

You don't need refills

I've had this fly trap for about 2 years now and it is 100% effective. In the height of summer it fills up in under a week. Holds an insane amount of dead flies. Keeps them away from the chickens. Heard a lot about refills. I've not bothered in ages. Empty the dead flies, leaving a small amount in there. Even the ones that don't come out is enough. Put fresh water in, and the smell is enough to start the cycle again. Fantastic.

Utterly disgusting because it is so effective!!!

This was very pricey and came from America so not great for the environment for postage! Really effective though, but really gross to try to empty. I am putting off emptying it for the second time now and the flys have laid eggs and there is now The full life cycle of the fly happening before my eyes!!! Next time I am going to try putting a plastic bag in there next time so I can just pull this out rather than trying to empty the putrid fly hell into a Bag before putting it in the bin. I bought another make of refills and these were as effective. I couldn’t give it 5 stars because the price was astronomical for what it is and it’s so digesting to empty. I would definitely recommend this as a highly effective but extremely stinky and gross fly catcher! Prepare to be repulsed and impressed in the same thought!!!

Brilliant

Amazing product. Was dubious but it was catching flies in minutes. Only down side is it fills up fast less than a week and difficult to remove the dead ones without wasting the whole contents. Still it does what it says on the tin and is easy to set up and let it go. Dogs take a particular interest though so best hung out of reach of them.

Its good but cant buy refills anywhere so utterly pointless

I like that this is simple to use just unscrew the lid add water Chuck in the bag od stinky crap and hang in grdnYes it does attract some flies but no where near as many as my red top fly catcher which litrelly catches thousand's of the pesky insects also one big major issue is you cant find the refills on amazon anywhere! Which is bloody stupid. I looked but nothing. Pointless So all in all. Dont bother with this but buy the cheaper and original red top fly catcher.

Extraordinary

I was a little dubious when I bought this - could it really be as good as people say? The answer is a resounding "yes".Despite what some others have said, there is no smell from it that I can detect, though the attractant before it is dissolved in the water does take the breath away!. I had not finished screwing the lid on before flies were attracted and in the first hour, I probably had 20 victims and after 4 hours over 100. By this morning, there is a double layer in there.Quite amazing and I like the idea that I can buy more attractant and use again, once the flies have decided the attractant is not strong enough. Two months on. The trap has now fallen over at least three times, tipping all the liquid out. Each time it is refilled, though no new attractant added, and still it attracts flies by the hundred; there must be over a pound in weight of dead flies in there. For once, something that does what it says on the tin. Recommended.
