This is a American Indian inspired wallet with what is called "the Birdman Tablet" carved into the leather. "The Birdman Tablet, the official logo of Cahokia Mounds, IL was found during excavations on the east side of Monks Mound in 1971. The image on the 'front' of the tablet is of a human, dressed in eagle (or falcon) regalia. The 'reverse' of the tablet is plain or cross-hatched, suggesting the pattern on the skin of a snake." It is awe inspiring to climb Monk's mound and look out on the Mississippi River Valley. The interior of this wallet is made of vegetable tanned leather just like the exterior. 8 Credit cards fit snugly into assigned slots. There is 1 compartment for cash or slips of paper. It is hand stitched with tough nylon sinew that has 70lb test strength. I cut out the shape, carved the design, and hand stitched it. No machines were used.
