Current USA 36-48" Inch Orbit Marine IC LED Saltwater Reef Marine Aquarium Light | 24 Hour IR Lighting & eFlux Wave Pump Control | Adjustable Color Spectrum for Fish Tank (4106)

I got this for my 5 gallon fluval saltwater tank after my old Current USA light died after 10 years or so. In all, I like this light. Setting it up is pretty easy. It allows for customization of colors and, while initially confusing, some ramp up/down for on and off to mimic sunrise/sunset (this ramp up/down seems to be standard and not able to adjust its length). Basically, what you do is define what sunrise/sunset will be, what daytime is, what nighttime is, and then your on/off times and then it'll change to those profiles at the appropriate times. It is a great light for a small pico tank. It provides plenty of light and should be strong enough for LPS and soft corals. It might even be strong enough for some SPS, though they might not be the best choice for a pico tank. I got this because I got the associated wave pump which was advertised to integrate with the light so you could control lights and pumps with one remote. That is true. Sort of. You need a separate hub for the wave pump which then connects to the hub for the light. This was not clear to me on purchase, so it was annoying to find out it could be done right out of the box. Other than that, I like this light. It's small, bright, and customizable, so should work well for a reef tank. Hopefully this one lasts 10+ years, and whenever it dies, I'll likely get another one.

I started a reef aquarium a few weeks ago and bought this light to replace the tube lights that I had from my previous tank. I can not believe how much my coral has grown in the last few days after installation. Everything looks like I had used miracle grow on steroids. The installation and configuration was simple and only took about 20 minutes to read the directions, install and configure the timer. The default schedule is great out of the box providing an early morning sunrise, very bright daylight, sun set and then a 6 hour moonlight before turning off for the night. You can adjust the duration for each of the phases to meet your needs and schedule. I am not a fan of the "Weather" features but you can have thunderstorms, lightning strikes or rolling clouds if you would like to have those effects as well. It has the ability to control your wave maker and pump as well but I am using equipment from another manufacturer and not sure if that capability exists. Will have to do some research. But if you are using Current USA pump or wave maker you are all set. My overall impression is that this is a solid product and easy to program and is flexible to meet your needs for a healthy reef.

short version: the connection from the light to the controller is very weak and the weather patterns are not as nice as the prior non-loop version. But for the price, this light is fantastic. Longer version: its a screw type connector once you push the cable into the controller - and it doesn't screw tight - it will just 'jump the track' if you attempt to screw it in 'all the way'. The results are a loose cable - not a big deal if you mount the controller but for the first week I had it sitting on top of my glass top and it would fall out anytime I was working around it. I replaced another "current usa" light with this one b/c of the better spectrum AND because it works with the Loop system. For a week I had the old one and the new one on the tank (waiting on a second replacement light to take the older one out). What I noticed while I played with the settings is that the new 'lightening' strikes are not random and the higher penetration of direct light from the led's makes it very noticeable. The prior light would flicker from dim to bright across the entire light bar which gave the effect of lighting striking somewhere out of view... with the new light, its more mechanical than natural to me.

Bought this light as I am setting up my tank. The remote does not work. I've sent an email and called support most of the day. Now they are closed. The light seems to be great however I cannot adjust the time or any other presets. Update: I don't want to have to send this 6ft light back. 7 days ive been waiting. One lady called me back and I missed the call. Called right back. Nothing. Seriously the absolute worst customer service I have EVER experienced. I don't understand why it has been so hard to send out a new loop or remote or even walk me through a possible error through set up. So disappointed. Update: 11 days no repsonse despite making several more phone calls. Will be sending back this weekend. Returned the light and the next day I got an email for a free remote. 3 weeks and I was never contacted.

I love not having to turn my lights on and off and it is easy to program when sunrise and sunset happens and adjust the colors for sunrise/sunset, day and moonlight. The gradual light changes don't startle the fish and it is good there is period of dark as well. I like how you can actually run 2 light strips off them so you can add another one at a later point or have it controlling a light on 2 different tanks. I prefer the bluetooth adapter which is even easier to use but you can always add it at a later point. I do use mine on freshwater tanks with plants that don't have high light requirements I have multiple ones and out of 6 of them and I did have a single issue where the controller wasn't working correctly (the clock wasn't changing) and after contacting them via their website they promptly sent me a new controller.

Great lighting color and brightness, nice rolling cloud, and lightning features, built in timers, remote, and connection to pumps. The reason for 2 stars. I have had to replace the small black box that powers the lights 2 times and now ordering a 3rd time. The prongs get hot and melt and lose connection.
