Side opening makes it easier to aim the wires down on my speaker
Easy to use and really good value for banana plug adapters. It's got a high quality look and feel because it's made of brass and it's fully gold plated.

Good quality, fair price. My wire is 8 gauge.
Good quality, fair price. My wire is 8 gauge. They'd take a larger wire, like 6 gauge, I think. Larger than that, I couldn't say.

they work perfectly, if not quite as easily as higher-end plugs
I was having some problems recently with a new receiver ( Marantz SR5006 ) that I suspected might be caused by intermittent short-circuits from the speaker cables. Accessing the rear of the receiver is hard enough that I preferred to deal with the problem in a single session, affixing banana plugs to every cable and eliminating any chance for shorts. I mixed GLS "Generation 4" Gold plugs with these more basic plugs, for comparison. The GLS plugs cost three times as much, shipped. Would they be three times as good? All the plugs worked and the receiver is working as it should. The GLS plugs are indeed better designed than the generics -- they have a non-conducting shaft, to reduce the chance of a short-circuit if you have other bare wires nearby. They work with a very wide range of wire sizes, and they're very easy to use. These lower-end plugs have no non-conducting sheath, they don't work as well with larger wires, and it was not as easy to reattach the two parts once the wire was threaded. For larger wires, they provide a second mode of attachment through the hole in the side but much more exposed. Provided you have the time to set them up carefully, and assuming you want to save a few dollars, these generic plugs are fine. If you are willing to pay for convenience, the others are a good choice too.

Great low cost connector for speaker cable.
These are well machined, solid connectors. Use them before trying to connect the speaker cable to the speakers if your amplifier and speakers have the banana plug connector/posts. My rear channels (Polk dipole surround speakers) had a colored (red/black) plug in the bana plug, which popped out. My center channel doesn't support the banana plug, but my front left/right floor standing Polks do, as did my Denon receiver, so once I measured out the cable lengths and screwed on these connectors, plugging everything in was a piece of cake. I got one wire backward which was picked up when I did the Audyssey sound checks, so flipping around the plug polarity was a piece of cake. The trick to these connectors is to push the cable through from the end and then have it fan out at the end so it will be pinched when you screw the 2 pieces together. The fastest way I found to do this is to unscre the connectors so you can see all the way through the hole, then lightly twist the speaker cable and thread it so it goes through the end easily then when it comes out at the hole use another plug end to push the cable part way out the side of the hole, then screw connector together, pinching the cable strands. After the first 2 it's quick and easy. No sound distortion, good connections and easy assembly and management. I wish I had these years ago. Don't forget to buy enough for both ends of the cables, and if you have patch panels for the speaker cables, you might need even more!

Works Perfectly With My Amp!
A must-have for connecting speakers to an amp. Just insert the wires, tighten the nut, and insert into the banana plug. Very easy to use and fits my amp very well.

Terrible quality, most of them are breaking apart when removing from speakers
Almost every one of these is now broken. Do not buy. I bought three sets of these, and they all were fine when I installed them. But now that I had to disconnect them from the speakers, most of them have all broken. The tips are getting stuck in the speakers and not coming out.

Alright for the price
I picked up several pairs of these a few months ago because they were low cost and well reviewed. They were easy to connect but I had problems with my speaker wires pulling out even when the plug was screwed all the way closed. This probably wouldn't be an issue with heavier gauge speaker wire or wires that had been tinned on the ends. My only real complaint is that one of the tips broke off in my receiver when I went to unplug the speaker recently. This is the first time I've unplugged it since installing these plugs and I'm careful to have plenty of slack on my speaker wires so they don't pull at the back of my reciever. I think it was just a manufacturing defect with that plug. The other thing to keep in mind is that these will add and inch or more to the depth of your receiver when plughed into the back. More if you connect the wires axially. This wasn't a problem for our old TV stand but our new stand is fairly shallow so my receiver sticks out slightly from the front. To be clear this wasn't an issue with these plugs, just our lack of planning in accommodating the increased depth do to the plugs and wires. I would buy these again if I were budget conscious and didn't mind replacing one or two if they fail. They work fine and make plugging my stereo in sooooo much easier. I'm going to keep the ones I have but if any more snap I'm going to cough up for some heavier duty and lower profile ones.

Not much to be said other than these are really good. The quality of the product is flawless and I loved how easy it was to connect wire to them. No soldering mess!
