I would like to return this. Defective. Worked when we first received it and then started it up for the party on Oct. 29th and would not work!

From the reviews, I think more are defective than actually working. Mine worked a few minutes then died.

Plugged it in put in water , not working and no leds . should i use distilled water?

Distilled water is not necessary. If your Mist Maker is not working when plugged in and immersed in water, it might just be defective. We tried different receptacles for the water to make sure that the device was covered.

How long does it produce fog before running out of water?

It depends on the amount of water used. But mine lasted at least 15 minutes in a quart of water.

does this unit have an auto off when the water gets low?

Yes. It does shut off when water is low
