Works great on my older Mercury outboard
Arrived earlier than originally stated when ordered. Great tachometer, nice bold easy to read numbers and backlight. Don't bother ordering one of those other tachs for less that are really automotive tachs, they won't be accurate on your outboard if you get them to work at all. This tach is made for marine use and works well and is accurate on my older Mercury outboard.

Good Tachometer
I installed this tachometer on a 1996 Johnson 48spl. Installation was simple. I just had to enlarge the original tachometer opening by about 1/16 of an inch. It seems fairly accurate but I only have a mini tach to check it against. It does have an accuracy adjustment, so it can be fine tuned if you have a good reference tach. The tach looks good and works well. I would definitely buy it again.

Worked perfectly
Used on my 1975 Evinrude 85hp model 85593e. So as you can see itโs an 8 pole BUT in doing research apparently this motor gets set based off pulses and not by poles? I found out it emits 12 pulses so divided by 2 you get the 6p setting. Anyway it works perfect after I replaced the original stator that had a meltdown (that goo coming from the charge coils on the stator).

Quality tachometer at reasonable price
The tachometer is high quality at a reasonable price. It is a good size for the boat dash. Good value for the money. The owner provides great customer service.

Easy installation, as it came with instructions
Easy installation, as it came with instructions. Pretty close to the Mercury Verado one I was replacing except for the "Q" at the bottom of the gauge face. I wasn't able to test this out immediately as the boat was in the garage for the winter, but I changed the oil in the motor and was able to start it by putting it in a cut off 55 gallon drum. I have the ability to see the engine parameters on my fish finder so I could compare the rpm reading on the new tach with the read out on the fish finder and both read the same so I'm pretty happy with my purchase. I would really have liked that the important dimensions (bezel 3.25") and gauge body diameter (3.3125) as well as the depth (2.875") were in the description, but I was reasonably guessing this would fit. Also sellers do not seem to take pictures of the back electrical connections of their products so we could compare what we have to what we are purchasing. This would be a real advantage to the buyer to be able to compare one product to the other. The pictures are of the Mercury gauge, but this replacement must have been from the original manufacturer as all of the data was the same.

1981 50 h.p. Johnson 2 stroke
Took me a little bit to figure out the proper settings for it, my motor (1981 50 h.p. Johnson 2 stroke) was not listed in the instructions. Turns out my motor uses the 5 pole setting. Ran a wire from the tach to the motor and hooked it to one of the stators 3 outputs. The reading seems reasonable and I have no doubt its within a few hundred rpm might even be dead on. You really need a way to measure your motors rpm external from the tach in order to know for sure. The tach looks great and is well built like all the other Sierra gauges I've purchased.

Tach works now, looks good, matches the rest, hardware included.
Last tach was dead and then would just just to 4000 rpm and go down as engine rpm increased, this one works great. 1995 Mercruiser 7.4, the setting used is 4p (4 pules) 8c (8 cylinder) for a V-8 four stroke. The tach is feed from the grey wire coming off the negative side of the coil to the send terminal on the back of the gauge.

I just installed the tachometer in my fishing boat and it looks and works great at this time. I compared the rpms to a quality scan tool and must say that it is very accurate. The only reason that I didnโt give it five stars is because it would have been nice if it would have included a wire harness or at least some quality wire ends

Installed it on my boat as it never came with one. Wiring the tach was easy as long as you know the wires to connect to.
